  Education focused NGO School for Life Ghana SfL started in 1995, springing from cooperation on rural development between the Northern Ghana based civil society organization, Ghana Developing Communities Association (GDCA) and a Danish NGO Ghana Friends (GV). The partners saw education as a pillar for development and at the same time realized that there were serious challenges to education performance in deprived parts of Northern Ghana. One major challenge identified was the high numbers of out-of-school children. As a way of providing access to out-of-school children, SfL developed a functional literacy model, which has proven to be highly effective, and has been  ​ adopted as government policy, now known as Complementary Basic Education (CBE).   Poverty Alleviation NGO World Vision International World Vision is a Christian relief, development and advocacy organization dedicated to working with children, families and their communities worldwide to reach their full potential by tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice. World Vision's integrated focus is Christian, child-centered and community empowering. World Vision started working in Ghana in 1979, pursuing integrated community development interventions, to alleviate poverty through community development projects that target small communities. Due to their work, 4,792 saving group members were trained financial skills literacy, 85,200 people communities were provided access to safe drinking water,42,652 children are participating in Unlock literacy interventions across world vision Ghana's programming areas.
